Eddie has been a member of the Temple Beth El professional family for more than 40 years, starting as Youth Director in 1979 and continuing on as the Education Director of the Religious School and now as our Executive Director. He is proud of the many deep friendships that he has forged with so many of our members through the years. Beyond Beth El, Eddie has served as a significant leader in the field of Jewish education, having served as the Headmaster of the Solomon Schechter School of Suffolk County and a 22 year stint as the Executive Director of the Jewish Educators Assembly. Eddie also enjoyed a 30 year involvement with Camp Ramah in Nyack, NY.
Eddie and his wife Anna have played a central role in all of our Beth El activities and programs in more recent years. They are proud of their 2 children, Shelley and Michael and their 5 grandchildren.
Michele Chizner Perlzweig was born and raised in Lawrence, NY. She graduated from Stonybrook University with a degree in applied mathematics and worked at IBM as a systems engineer until deciding to take some time off after her third child was born. When Michele was ready to return to the workforce in 2014, she joined the staff at Temple Beth El and brought her computer skills to help modernize our office.
Michele is married to David and they have three children and three grandchildren. Being Bubbe to Jamie, Harper and Noah is her favorite thing!
Lauren Gabe Gewirtz was raised in Lawrence, NY. She graduated from Yeshiva University – Sy Syms School of Business with a degree in Accounting. After working in several accounting firms, Lauren decided to be at home raising her children full time till they were teenagers. When Lauren was ready to return to the workforce in 2021, she joined the staff at Temple Beth El as Bookkeeper and has helped Beth El transition during the entire building sale process. She truly enjoys being part of such a warm and nurturing office environment!
Lauren is married to Michael and they have raised their wonderful children Menachem, Malkie, Hannah & Daniella in North Woodmere.
